Are you curious about Twitter marketing and whether or not it can help you get the traffic you’re looking for? Keep reading to see how Twitter marketing can help you finally achieve the success you’re after.

One simple tip for Twitter marketing that many people simply ignore is to be opinionated. When you market on Twitter, taking a side is a good idea. Since the market is so huge and the response you can get is massive, you should try to segregate those people who would agree with you.

In other words, it is good to target only those followers who will say yes to you. Your overall aim in this situation is to build a set of people that you can control. You do not want to have to try to reach each Twitter user, you only want to worry about the people in your target.

One good example is to find the people who will agree with the philosophy of what you are selling (like an e-book on losing weight through aerobic exercise) because not everyone will. In short, your goal here is to build a strong following of people who agree with you and who will respond to the offers you send out in a more favorable way.

Don’t attempt to convince all of the Twitter users; make a mark that is totally your own.

Make sure people actually want to read your tweets and that they’re relevant. By learning to create tweets that people actually want to read, you’ll get more people to notice you amongst the competition.

You can best do this by saying something that may jar them a little bit. If you just keep plugging away, you’ll see yourself succeeding in no time. These methods will give you started with Twitter marketing, but you’ll need to work hard and be very ambitious if you hope to succeed with it.

//-->

A lot of marketers say not to build up profile backlinks too quickly while other people say it really is fine.

WordPress has had a very quick rise to the top in the blogging and CMS platform stakes over the past few years, no doubt contributed to by the fact that the platform is free to use, and is supported by a very large and active community of developers who not only support the platform, but the various plugins and themes that are available for it.

The only issue with WordPress is that it never really has been made search engine friendly, however, there is a huge support for plugins out there that are completely free, that will transform your blog into a super power in the search engines.

It is worth noting however that there are a lot of settings that you can use to optimize your blog. This is why I recommend the use of clone wordpress files in order to make installing a new blog much easier.

The first setting that I recommend that you change is about changing the URL structure of your installation. In your administration area, under your settings menu, you will be able to change your permalink settings.

When this setting is set as default, a numerical value will be assigned in your URL to all posts, meaning that you will get no SEO benefits from this at all, apart from the dominant keyword in your domain.

This should be changed so that it is at least post name based, which will insert those valuable keywords into your URL for each post or page.

Keeping in mind also that with older versions of WordPress, some modifications were needed to be made manually to some files, so this is why I recommend using the most up to date version of WordPress.

The most essential plugin for WordPress SEO would have to be the All In One SEO Pack. It is available for free through the WordPress database, and can be installed manually in matter of seconds.

This plugin will allow you to set titles, and descriptions for all pages and posts on your blog, plus your main URL as well. The benefit of this comes in two ways. First, it is all about relevancy for a particular phrase, and second, you can literally sell from the search engines themselves using a great title and description.

Google XML Sitemaps is a great plugin that completely rewrites the way that WordPress creates its dynamic sitemap. In fact, sitemaps are a problem on WordPress, as they are Dynamic, meaning that most search engines will struggle to read them.

This plugin creates a real file that can be read, and even edited, plug it automates the submission of this file to the search engines so you don’t even need to ping your website or blog whenever you decide to add more content.

This is hands down one of the easiest ways to get the search engines interested in your website, as such, I also recommend submitting your sitemap to your Google Webmaster Tools for inclusion in their index.

If your website or blog takes a long time to load, it is not going to rank well. Unfortunately, most mid level hosting providers can be slow at times, and this can impact how well we rank.

It is with this in mind that I like to use cache plugins that create static files for your website so that it will load faster without any server side processing needed at all. Most of these plugins are completely free, and take only minutes to install.

SEO is just so important to any website, especially when it comes to getting those initial visitors through the door. I cant stress this enough, however, getting these settings right requires quite a lot of work.

This is exactly why I stress that using clone wordpress installations is the way to go, as it really will save you a huge amount of time in the long run.

It is very important to find a good mentor for your online business! You may have what you consider to be the best product or business opportunity on the whole world wide web… BUT… this is useless without the right marketing techniques or the right mentoring.

A good mentor is needed to share their marketing strategies.

Do not think that you can do this by yourself. I remember when I started my first home based business, I had loads of good ideas on how to promote my business, but I soon learned that they would be too costly and time consuming.

I suppose I was coming at this task in a more traditional approach. I was soon to learn more effective modern techniques.

Find a competent consultant.

Do some basic research on this person – simply ask Google! Find elsewhere if this individual is alive on sociable mass media websites like Facebook and Twitter.

Ask for a few testimonials. What understanding does this coach have? Is this person capable of providing the expert advice? Is this individual ethical?

Form a relationship with your consultant.

Your advisor is your friend. It is essential to be coachable, so you must ask questions and be willing to follow advice.

I strongly recommend that you have an open mind, understand the advertising techniques being taught.

Then, chose your favourite schemes and focus on the most effective. Remember to do your own research because your advisor’s main job is to guide you. Don’t feel rushed, but do follow through with action.

The fundamentals of business do not change, just the variables do. Getting your website on top of the search engines so that customers can locate you is very important. Google alters its rating algorithms periodically, and you must keep up with the changes.

A couple of years back, Google said that linking between websites was essential, so everybody and their dog exhanged links. This reciprocal connection idea was soon so abused that Google may now even penalize your website if too many of your links are reciprocal.

Now they are more concerned with the “quality” of websites that connect to you. This means that you must make certain that your links are from related websites, preferably with quality and authority.

In any conversation about niche marketing, it should start with the word: targeting. The phrases, to target, to focus, are worthy of mentioning too.

By Alphonso Smith

In any conversation about niche marketing, it should start with the word: targeting. The phrases, to target, to focus, are worthy of mentioning too. Let me divert for a second.

I am not a hunter but if I were, and I was hunting deer, and my choice of weapons were either a scatter-gun or a rifle. Remember, I can’t get closer then a couple of hundred feet. I’m thinking I should choose the rifle. SCATTERED HITS versus FOCUSED HITS.

The most successful small businesses understand that only a limited number of people will buy their products or services. The task at hand becomes determining as closely as possible exactly who those people are and then targeting your marketing efforts and dollars towards them.

You need to target your audience in a specific manner as soon as your target is in focus.

Now you know what you must do in order to succeed. Let’s do some research and see what the search engine About.com has to say about a niche market. About.com says, “A niche market is a focused, target-able portion of a market.” ie Sports(the market)football (the target market of sports) pro-football (a target market of football) and so on.

About com goes further, “By definition then, a business that focuses on a niche market is addressing a need for a product or service that is not being addressed by mainstream providers. You can think of a niche market as a narrowly defined group of potential customers.

Looking deeper, I seek out what Wikipedia the free encyclopedia, has to say. It says that a niche market is the subset of the market on which a specific product is focusing; therefore the market niche defines the specific product features aimed at satisfying specific market needs, as well as the price range, production quality and the demographics that is intended to impact.

Wikipedia further states that “Some niches may become saturated with marketers, increasing competition and thus, according to the economic law of supply and demand, reducing the slice of the pie available to each competitor. One solution is to find smaller, “undiscovered,” but still profitable niches, usually by searching out themselves the best keywords to target.

These lower cost keywords are called long-tailed keywords,as in the long tail of secondary keyword phrases that usually follow the main keyword in popularity of number of searches conducted by internet users.

Some are too obscure and may have very few or even no clicks per month, and therefore not much use to target This technique can be repeated across several niche websites until a desired income level is achieved.

Your mindset from henceforth is to be aware of trends and current events in the real world. Read newspapers and magazines, both general and niche specific. Watch news programs and listen to the radio, these are ways to getting the “juices flowing”. At times something will just click and the light will go on.

At some point, develop several broad ideas and perform research on the ideas. Before you make your decision on the path to follow, make sure there is a good market for the product that you plan to promote before advertising it.

Every website is created with the motive of offering relevant and accurate information about a subject to its visitors but how would one gauge the number of visitors’ actually reading the content provided on the site.

In order to know the popularity of a site and its usefulness to its visitors, it is pertinent to have statistical information about the most visited pages, most captivating content section, and return visits.

A website owner can bring quite fruitful amendments into his/her website only if he tracks the number of his visitors and their behavior.

The most practical way of analyzing and measuring a site’s visitors’ behavior comes from Web analytics.

It brings up the proper measurement of the best converting pages, the percentage of visitors, unique visitors, return visits, exit pages, goals, entry pages, geographic localization and much more to highlight the pages that are capable of letting you reach your objectives.

In addition, you avail comprehensive information about:

The location from where most of your traffic comes

Competent landing pages that encourage sales

Affiliate or partner site sending the most converting traffic

Affiliates delivering low quality, low converting traffic

Marketing strategies offering the best Return On Investment

Hence, Web Analytics largely helps in boosting up the measurable results of a marketing campaign, which eventually enhances the return on investment.

Now comes the question that how one can use these web analytics to measure the performance of the site. Broadly, there are two main approaches of collecting web analytics data.

Log Files Analysis: In this, log files are checked to gather information about all transaction stored in the web server records.

Page Tagging: This one uses JavaScript on each page to alert a third-party server on any requirement of a page by the web browser. It is an adequate solution for e-business websites. A very common example of this sort is Google analytics.

If practiced both, one may find considerable differences in the results gained by both abovementioned techniques. The difference is mostly created on the grounds of two major things; file caching and page tagging.

In case of file caching, if the option of file caching is active on returning visitor’s web browser then the request for the file he has already seen will not be sent to the web server, and a local copy will get displayed.

Hence, the log files analysis software would not be able to identify multiple visits some times. On the other hand, Page tagging depends on the visitor browser voluntarily providing the analytical information requested. Moreover, many browsers hinder data collection due to security reasons.

The main benefit of log file analysis is the logging of data by your web server. Web server records every transaction irrespective of the visitors browser settings. The data reaches your server directly in regular format denying the requirement of third party server.

Also, log files offer complete information regarding all the visits from search engine spiders, robots along with failed requests which are quite a significant piece of information for appropriate website optimization.

With page tagging, the JavaScript is called every time the page is loaded. This gives you a way to track exactly your visitors’ behaviors even if they load the web page locally from their cache. Also, it can account on events that are free from the involvement of any request to the web server.

Social video marketing is one of the hottest emerging trends in 2011. Marketing executives are finally realizing the power of online video to engage their audience, increase brand awareness and improve the reach of their social media efforts.

Advertising is the mantra that spells success for many companies, but for that one has to keep track of whether the advertising is working or not. Since a lot is at stake, a company is required to monitor the effect of the ad on the general public, and accordingly continue with the promotion of the product.

Ad tracking is a very useful as well as indispensable method to measure the effects of the ad and keep a check on its usefulness. Since a lot of money and creative energy goes into the making of the ad it is very important that the ad serves its purpose of reaching out to the people and touching the hearts and lives of the target audience.

Ad tracking gives you the necessary information about the revenues generated by the advertisement and the profits incurred by the company. If an ad is successful, it would be to the company’s advantage to build u on it and take full advantage of the popularity of the ad. However if the ad is not working, steps must be taken to either try again or else terminate the advertisement in an extreme situation.

Ad tracking gives you the necessary information about the success or failure of the advertisement. As this lets you plan your strategy for the future, a lot depends on the results of ad trafficking. This lets you save a lot of money as a lot of advertising campaigns may be consuming a lot of money without generating the proportional amount of revenues.

In such a scenario, ad tracking is the tool that increases the productivity of the company by saving money. For ad tracking there is a software available that lets you keep a check on your advertising thus letting you save resources that can be otherwise useful for the company.

With the help of ad tracking if one sees that an ad campaign is failing then it might be more beneficial for the company to remove that ad campaign totally. You can also try again with a modified campaign. Ad tracking gives you an idea of the reason for the failure of the ad and its impact on the mind of people.

Ad tracking can also be facilitated by call tracking. Call tracking is a very useful technology that lets you monitor the effects of your advertisements. By monitoring every call that the business makes, that is by tracking phone numbers one gets an estimate about the success of the advertisements. This is an analytical tool that nullifies the need for guesswork and hunches. Call tracking tells you which campaigns are successful and which are not.

If advertisements produce enough business to give a possitive return, they should be repeated. If an advertisement consistently looses money, don’t repeat it. Find something else that will give you a better return. Call tracking can be a very valuable tool for ad tracking.

We are all aware of the statistics that report 80-90% of new businesses fail. Failure here is defined as being out of business two years after launch. This statistic applies to new companies and new products. While the statistics vary by industry and product category, the fact is the vast majority of new businesses and new products fail.

Why does this happen?

Well, the armies of Monday morning armchair business consultants offer insights at lunches and cocktail hours from the Four Seasons to the ubiquitous sports bars across the country. Their passionate points-of-views suggest failures are due to poor business plans, trying to reach too broad an audience, poor pricing strategies, the wrong channel strategy, picking the wrong celebrity to be their spokesperson, having a message that is too complicated or having a message that is too simplistic and non-differentiated.

While some or all of these reasons can be retrofitted to explain failure, there is one reason that goes unnoticed – Success. To understand this, you first have to segment new businesses/products into two groups. Those that fail out-of-the-box and those that seem to be on a path to success only to fail after two or more years. It is this latter segment that is often lured by the siren of success that clouds the signs of a changing marketplace or socio-economic context.

Success is a potent drug that can distort one’s perception and assessment of what is real. It gives rise to corporate Momentum Thinking™ that creates conventional wisdom. We have all heard the statements of managers who do not want to test new ideas or look at back-up or alternative strategies while things are going well:

• “Are you crazy, why waste resources when we are winning?”

• “We have cracked the code, we are on a winning streak, don’t change anything”

• “Good point, lets put it on the agenda for the next business review meeting”

Success truly is a siren. It must be viewed as such from the moment things begin to look good. Success should be viewed as a high risk genetic indicator that, if left unwatched and unattended, can lead to disastrous results. Many people have said “a glass half full” thinking spawns corporate despair. Nothing could be father from the truth.

Thinking about success as a chameleon that can easily change from helpful to harmful depending on the background or the changing colors of the environment, gives business executives a competitive edge.

• Do not let success blind you to the need to constantly monitor the changing marketplace and the social context of your customers

• Do not be afraid to make changes (and yes, test them, but test them correctly) to a successful business plan

• Do not be lured by the easy way out, thinking — “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it”

The true formula for success is to challenge your success every step of the way. Put yourself and your company in the position of being able to say “We have achieved great goals because we were not seduced by our success along the way.”

In most companies this line of thinking is overpowered by Momentum Thinking™ and conventional wisdom. The wise thing to do is find an experienced partner who will consistently challenge the internal thinking of the organization and help you to manage the down side of success.

To best connect with potential clients and customers, it is important to communicate on a level they are both familiar and comfortable with – video email marketing. While traditional email marketing may be appropriate in many instances, this new form of marketing through email videos is intensifying.

<script type="text/javascript"

This not only enables webmasters to suggest a recommended version of the page but it can also help to decrease the risk of being penalized for duplicate content when the same page reflects almost identical content. You can use canonical URL’s when you create your free website or when you create blog websites.

What are Canonical URL’s?

When you create your free website you should include some meta tags. One of these meta tags can be the canonical meta tag which will tell search engines which version of your web page it should index.

If, for example, you have a web page that displays search results in different orders then you could have the search engines reflect the alphabetical listing as the canonical URL. You could also specify canonical URL’s when you create blog websites to let the search engines know which version of your blog you want visitors to find.

Canonical URL’s and the Duplicate Content Problem

A while back search engines started penalizing websites for displaying duplicate content. In some situations this was important or relevant as it helped to prevent problems with plagiarism but in other cases it could cause problems when web pages were deliberately virtual copies of one another – such as displaying the same content in different manners for the benefit of the reader.

Fortunately, if you have duplicate content on your free website that is legitimately there you can now use the canonical meta tag to let search engines know that you are not committing plagiarism but that this content is there for a reason and which version of the page you would like visitors to see by default.

When to Use Canonical URL’s

There are a number of different occasions when search engines may pick up duplicate or almost duplicate content on your website, thereby making canonical URL appropriate. Some of these occasions are:

When you are using a tracking id or are going to be using affiliate links to promote your web page with different versions of the same page for affiliates.

When a category page is almost identical to the main page.

When a page can be sorted in a number of different ways such as alphabetically, by price, etc.

When determining whether you should use a canonical URL think about how your page may be called. If it is a static page with only one way of obtaining that information and there is no other page with very similar content then you may get away with not using the canonical URL meta tag.

If you have a dynamic page or any other page on your free website contains very similar information or duplicate content or if you are going to be using tracking and session id’s when you call the page then it is best to use the canonical URL meta tag.

Canonical URL’s help search engines to determine whether a website really does contain duplicate content and the reason for it. By specifying those pages on your website that are likely to have duplicate content or very similar content to a base page you can avoid being penalized for duplicate content. Use this whenever you have dynamic pages on your free website as well as when you create blog websites.
