Article Writing – Techniques

Duane Jacobson

Article writing has many techniques that can be applied to capture your audience. Here are some basic techniques that you can use to help with your article marketing:

  1. Article Title: When writing articles make the title as interesting as possible. Avoid special characters in your article as many article directories will strip those out and or un-approve your article. Never put your website address or any website address or keyword stuff your article title. When trying to write a article that is interesting try to include 2 keywords or keyword phrases that relate to the article.
  2. Article description: The article description should provide a little about the article that will grab a readers curiosity. Never keyword stuff or put your website address this is will get your article un-approved or your author account banned.
  3. Keywords: Use specific keywords related to your article. Do not put keywords in that are related to your bio of the article. This isn’t SEO friendly and your article will not get good rankings in the search engines. Do not put your website address in the keyword field as this will only ensure your article gets un-approved. Note: I will go more in depth in the above later
  4. Before you start writing get to know your audience in your niche market. Look for trends. This will help in finding your audience of readers/buyers. Write on a general knowledge level that your audience will be able to relate to and easily understand. This will help your readers to easily adapt your ideas.
  5. Write on topics that you know very well. I suggest writing on topics that relate to products or services that you provide. Not selling but providing good information about. This could be done by writing a tutorial or a review on a product/service. The strongest form of writing is writing tutorials. This is writing article(s) that can help others struggling with the topic/article tutorial is about. This is the easiest way to grab your audience and build a strong user base and most of all “FAITH IN YOU”.
  6. Avoid repetitive writing. Repetitive writing can seem robotic and dry. Especially when you write an informative paper, you may feel tempted to state the facts, one after another, in the same fashion. To avoid distracting the reader with repetitive sentences and to add rhythm and variety to your sentences, make sure you vary sentence length. Remember that there are different ways to vary the length of your sentences. Look for ways to combine sentences or to stylistically cut them short (yes, you can use fragments). Follow long sentences with short ones that help to drive your point home. To be Repetitive in a good way: can either be through an example, using a story, or quoting a famous person.
  7. Figure of speech such as metaphors, smiles, and analog can be a writers best friend. Using comparison to make it easier for the reader to relate to the picture your painting. This is making a common ground between you the author and the reader.
  8. Using powerful words that stir up options and emotional can grab your reader. These words will provoke a response from your reader. Make sure that the specific phrase or phrases has something to do with your business. Try to make every word count. Doing this will help give a solution as an answer that will be better.
  9. Being consistent with your ideas shows integrity and will help build faith in you as a author. Being consistent will make it hard for the reader not to agree with you.
  10. Persuasion is vital. If you are able to back your writing up with credentials and reference can help form a better understanding of the subject matter.
  11. Never annoy your readers. Annoying your readers will only ruin your credentials as an author. Never throw commercials or junk in your bio or article your writing. Instead make your self look as a professional or expert in your field as an author.
  12. Short and to the point. When writing articles make sure that your article is short usually between 300 – 500. If your article is longer than this you will bore your reader(s). If your article is longer than this. You may wish to break your article up into segments like article 1, article 2, article 3. Give the option for the reader to go to other parts of the article. You may also wish to just write a e-book and use a short article to grab a user base of readers. Most of all let your ideas flow like water naturally and clear to the point.
